India’s First AI-Driven Advertisement: The Making of Saarru’s “Slurrp” Campaign

At Pixel Studios, we took a bold step into uncharted territory by crafting India’s first AI-generated advertisement (well, almost!) for our client Thillais Masala and their new brand, Sarah – A Native South Indian Soup.

The Concept: Nativity in Every Slurrp

How do you encapsulate the authenticity and flavor of a native South Indian soup into a short video advertisement?

The one iconic sound—the slurp.

In South Indian households, slurping soup is more than just a habit; it’s a sign of satisfaction and indulgence. Drawing from this cultural cue, we built the storyboard around the powerful, relatable, and evocative sound of a loud slurp.

The Narrative:

The ad closes with the man fully refreshed, satisfied, and smiling, leaving viewers with a craving for Sarah.

The Power of AI: A Visual and Auditory Marvel

To create this unique campaign, we decided to use artificial intelligence to design the advertisement. Here’s how we went about it:

1. Storyboarding with AI:

Example: A digital marketing agency for manufacturers can help you perform a comprehensive SEO audit and implement best practices to increase your search rankings and drive organic traffic.

2. AI-Generated Videos:

Each video footagefrom the tired man’s initial state to the explosion of colors with the slurp, was carefully crafted using AI tools. We wanted the visual storytelling to be immersive and engaging.

3. The Challenge with AI:

While AI performed exceptionally well in creating the initial frames, it fell short in crafting the most crucial moment—the actual slurp. To ensure perfection, we incorporated a live-action video for that segment and blended it seamlessly with the AI-generated visuals.

4. Jingle Creation:

What’s a South Indian ad without a catchy tune? We used AI to compose a traditional Tamil jingle, complete with vibrant lyrics, adding a layer of fun and relatability to the campaign. One of the lyrics even took a witty jab at boring Chinese soups, aligning perfectly with the playful tone of the ad.

A Unique Blend of AI and Real Footage

While we aimed to make this a fully AI-generated advertisement, integrating live-action footage added the finishing touch. The final product is a seamless blend of cutting-edge AI technology and human creativity, resulting in a visually stunning and culturally resonant ad.
