Viv Anderson shares insight on Sheffield Wednesday takeover
Former Sheffield Wednesday star Viv Anderson spoke to Football FanCast this week about the situation at his former club.
“Only time will tell” – Anderson shares Pedersen sack stance
It’s been a nightmare time for Sheffield Wednesday, who have all but had their relegation from the Championship confirmed after entering administration.
The Owls are yet to welcome new owners and their preferred bidder, James Bord, is now reportedly being sued by his former business partner in a fresh blow for those at Hillsborough.
Exclusive chat with Chris Waddle on Sheffield Wednesday takeover
The Owls are awaiting positive news.
Just when they’ll finally have the chance to welcome an official new era remains to be seen. For now, it seems as though Henrik Pedersen’s job is set to be tougher than ever, as he looks to at least hand home fans something to cheer about.
Speaking exclusively with Football FanCast, in partnership with UK bookmaker BetSelectformer Sheffield Wednesday player Anderson shared his stance on whether Pedersen is still the man for the job ahead of a campaign in League One.
He said: “It’s difficult to say he’s shown enough when they haven’t won a game in the league. I don’t know a lot about him as a manager, more of a player. I know he’s a nice lad, a good coach, but he’s working with his hands tied. It’s a hard, hard job.
“He’s had to bring in loan players because they can’t buy anyone. I know Jaden Heskey plays there, and he’s only young. He’s had to take young lads who have never played men’s football in the league.
“I know his heart is in the club because he says all of the right things, so maybe give it to him and see if he can get you where you need to be. Whether they do give it to him permanently, only time will tell.”

The 69-year-old also had his say on Sheffield Wednesday’s takeover, sharing his hope that a “fabulous” club finally move onto bigger and better things sooner rather than later.
“I don’t know anything about it, to tell you the truth. All I would say is the quicker they can get something sorted, the better. Inevitably, they’re going to go down this season, but it’s about the season after.
“I hope they get the club together because it’s a fabulous football club, with some great supporters, and they deserve a better outcome. The previous owner obviously ruined the football club, and it’s about time to bring it back to the level it should be.”
The news that Bord is being sued by his former business partner is the last thing that Sheffield Wednesday needed from their preferred bidder.
The Owls will be desperate to avoid returning to square one in search of new owners. They’ve been in administration since October and, as Anderson admitted, relegation to League One is inevitable.
Everyone at Hillsborough will be desperate to find a light at the end of the tunnel after already suffering such desperately frustrating times at the club.
