Crystal Palace struck gold on “phenomenal” star who’s worth more than Sarr
Crystal Palace rubbed salt into Tottenham Hotspur’s gaping wound last time out in the Premier League, as Oliver Glasner’s men resoundingly beat Igor Tudor’s dismal hosts 3-1.
Glasner has gone through some managerial difficulties of his own as of late at Selhurst Park, as Eagles fans were pushing for the Austrian to leave ahead of schedule, but the soon-to-be-departing boss would have appeased a lot of supporters with the dominant nature of that victory in North London.
Palace fans will be head over heels for Ismaila Sarr at the moment, too, as the former Watford attacker continues to shine for the Eagles, two seasons deep into his switch from Ligue 1.
How Sarr has excelled at Crystal Palace this season
Without Sarr’s quickfire double against a leaky Spurs defence, the away side might not have made their additional man advantage count, after Micky van de Ven was sent off.
Two goals in the space of 12 first-half minutes from the magical 28-year-old killed the game and handed the Eagles a much-deserved win, with Sarr now sitting on a hefty seven goals in the Premier League for the season, from only 1,640 minutes of action.
The composed number seven just continues to play with ice running through his veins for his South London employers, with the £12.5m fee splashed out by Palace to bring him back to England, after a brief stay with Marseille, sticking out as a major bargain.
Up to 25 goals and ten assists overall at Selhurst Park, after bagging that brace against Tudor and Co, Sarr’s estimated transfer worth has now skyrocketed to £30m as per Transfermarktwhich is a huge £17.5m increase from his cheap price-tag in 2024.
However, even as Sarr has undergone that wild transformation and has enthralled Palace fans far and wide this season with his sublime attacking performance, there is another figure in Glasner’s camp who has a higher valuation than the £30m superstar and he is equally catching the eye.
Crystal Palace star is worth even more than Sarr
Sarr wasn’t the only Palace individual who Spurs found hard to contain on Thursday night, as Adam Wharton collected two assists with a dominant performance from the middle of the park.
Alongside the England international shining, Jorgen Strand Larsen continues to look unshackled, donning Palace red and blue, as he ditched bottom-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fresh opportunity in South London in January.
Labelled as a “phenomenal” attacking talent by his ex-Wolves boss Vitor Pereira for his 20-goal spell at Molineux, Strand Larsen hasn’t looked back since swapping the West Midlands for London, with his effort just about beating a shaky Gugilemo Vicario, handing Palace a 2-1 lead at Spurs.
That boosted the Norwegian’s goal tally for the Eagles up to an impressive three goals from seven games, as he strives to look every bit worth his club-record £48m price-tag.
Ideally, Palace would have won the services of the former Leeds United target for a cheaper amount, considering Strand Larsen did arrive at his new surroundings with only one goal for the season next to his name.
Indeed, this has been a particularly sticky campaign for the centre forward but he is finally coming good again, building upon an impressive haul of 14 goals back in 2024/25.
While he has not hit those heights quite yet in London, he is arguably proving to be worth every bit of that flashy price tag, even if Transfermarkt suggest the Eagles overpaid for his services.

Worth about £4m above Sarr, it speaks volumes of Strand Larsen’s quality that the only player who is worth more than the revitalised striker is the impressive Wharton, who could move for a lofty fee in the summer.
It’s safe to say he certainly suits Palace more than Wolves, with that fact something the forward even outlined after the win over Spurs.
Speaking at full-time, he said that he “feels really happy” under Glasner, noting how the players around him make such a big difference.
A subtle dig at Wolves? Quite possibly. Either way, Steve Parish and Co will be delighted they were able to get this one over the line.
