Aston Villa circling to sign ex-Real Madrid player who’s now open to Premier League move
Aston Villa have joined the transfer race for Como star Jacobo Ramon, with the defender now open to a move to the Premier League.
Villa’s interest in signing a new centre-back comes amid Stan Collymore’s criticism of Ezri Konsa, with the former forward saying: “There was also talk of Ezri Konsa arriving from Aston Villa, but he has had a dreadful couple of months, to the extent that he was dropped for the game against Nottingham Forest.”
With Unai Emery’s side so far clear of Chelsea in the race for the top five, a 1-1 draw against Forest at The City Ground wasn’t the worst result in the world, but the manager could call upon Konsa against Bologna this evening, with the centre-back scoring in the 3-1 first leg victory.
The Villans are in a strong position to qualify for the semi-final, where they will come up against the winner of Nottingham Forest vs FC Porto, which is level after the first leg.
While Emery focuses on winning his first major trophy at Villa Park, work is going on in the background ahead of the summer transfer window, and Aston Villa have now joined the race for Como star Ramonformerly of Real Madrid.
That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, which reveals Madrid are keen on bringing the defender back to the Bernabeu, but they are facing competition from a plethora of Premier League sides.
Interestingly, the centre-back, who has been described as “powerful” by scout Ben Mattinsonis now open to a move to England, after catching the eye in the Serie A this season, making the second-highest number of defensive contributions (7.5) in the Como squad.
