Tottenham star Micky van de Ven reacts to £100m Sandro Tonali deal on social media
Tottenham supporters have been celebrating one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer after their club-record deal for Sandro Tonali.
The north London side have agreed a club-record package worth up to £100 million with Newcastle for the Italy international, with the deal understood to include an initial payment of £92.5 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons.
Tonali has reportedly agreed a six-year contract worth around £275,000 per week, while Roberto De Zerbi played a key role in convincing his fellow Italian to make the move to Spurs.
The transfer has progressed rapidly over the past 24 hours.

Reports indicate Tonali is in London today to complete the final stages of his medical before officially becoming Tottenham’s next marquee summer signing after Mateus Fernandes.
The midfielder is expected to be unveiled once the remaining paperwork is completed, bringing an end to one of the window’s biggest transfer sagas.
Spurs are not believed to be done there either, and could yet make more big-name signings, including a new forward and new goalkeeper.

Indeed, sharp-eyed supporters noticed that defender Micky van de Ven liked Fabrizio Romano’s “Here We Go” Instagram post confirming Tonali’s move.
Van de Ven has become one of Tottenham’s most influential players since arriving in north London and is expected to play a major role under De Zerbi next season, despite previous links to both Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Seeing one of the dressing room’s key figures publicly interact with Romano’s announcement only added to the positive feeling surrounding the transfer.
Tottenham have sealed a perfect signing for Roberto De Zerbi
Tonali arrives with outstanding pedigree.
After emerging at Brescia as one of Italy’s brightest young talents, he became a central figure at AC Milan, helping the Rossoneri win the Serie A title through his energy and passing range.
Newcastle paid around £55 million to sign him in 2023, and although his first season in England was disrupted by a lengthy suspension, he responded impressively after returning, re-establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most complete midfielders.
His ability to dictate possession, recover the ball and drive play forward makes him an ideal fit for De Zerbi’s football.
Alongside Fernandes, Tonali has the potential to transform Tottenham’s midfield for years to come.
If he performs at the level he has consistently shown in both Serie A and the Premier League, Spurs will have secured far more than just a statement signing.
They will have landed a genuine elite midfielder entering his peak years, capable of raising the standards of everyone around him and becoming the focal point of De Zerbi’s rebuild.
For a Tottenham side determined to return to the top end of English football, there are few better players available to build around.
