Bristol City keen on Huddersfield striker Joe Taylor
Bristol City have now entered contention to sign a “superb” former Lincoln City star, with new manager Michael Skubala personally keen.
Pre-season preparations “well under way” at Bristol City
Skubala was named as Roy Hodgson’s permanent successor earlier this week, joining from Lincoln, after guiding the Imps to the League One title last season, and he has confirmed the clubs have already started work ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The ex-Lincoln boss said: “I’m delighted to take up this exciting opportunity. I’ve had some really positive conversations with the board and James Ellis, who have been very clear about the club’s ambition.
“I’m ready for the challenge ahead and looking forward to meeting the players, staff and supporters. Preparations for pre-season are well under way and we have an important and exciting few months ahead.”
The Robins’ recent Championship campaign was a tad underwhelming, securing a 12th-place finish, but never really looking like contenders for the play-off places, which indicates the new manager may need to make a number of new additions this summer.
Following the 43-year-old’s arrival, it has now been revealed that bringing in a new striker is on the agenda in the transfer window, which is set to officially open on June 15th.
Bristol City enter contention to sign “superb” striker
According to a report from Football Lowdown, Bristol City are now plotting a move for Huddersfield Town striker Joe Taylorwho spent last season on loan at fellow League One side Wigan Athletic.
Skubala is personally keen on signing Taylor, who he worked with during his time at Lincoln City, with the centre-forward bagging 10 goals and three assists in 19 appearances for the Imps.
Huddersfield are open to selling the former Wales U21 international this summer, and there is a feeling it could take around £2m to tempt the League One side into a sale.
The 23-year-old is ‘one of the first names’ on Skubala’s wish list, and it is no surprise, given the impact he made on loan at Wigan last season.
The Peterborough-born marksman scored 18 goals for the Latics in all competitions, and he was regularly on the scoresheet in the league for the third season on the spin.

The ex-Colchester United man proved himself in League Two in the 2023-24 season, before going on to have two impressive campaigns in League One, which means a move to the Championship is the next logical step.
