Celtic now considering recently sacked manager who has travelled to the UK this weekend
Celtic are considering a number of candidates for their permanent manager position, with a recently sacked manager travelling to the UK this weekend.
Celtic preparing for cup revenge against St Mirren
Auston Trusty believes Celtic go into Sunday’s Scottish Gas Scottish Cup semi-final against St Mirren a “better team” than the one that capitulated against the Buddies in their last Barclays Hampden meeting.
Wilfried Nancy took charge of the Hoops for only the third time in the Premier Sports Cup final at the national stadium in December where the Paisley side ran out deserved 3-1 winners.
It was a third successive loss for the Frenchman, who was soon to depart with former boss Martin O’Neill coming in as interim manager for the second time this season to steady the ship.
Celtic battled to a 1-0 home win over St Mirren in the William Hill Premiership last weekend and they are still in with a chance of a league and cup double.
Looking back to the cup final defeat, a low point in the season for Celtic, 27-year-old USA defender Trusty said: “Yeah, obviously that was an unfortunate result, but it’s a new game, new competition and we are a better team at this point in time.
“So hopefully we can continue on the path we’re on and get the win. I think we just had a tough spell, and then bounced back.
“That’s football, highs and lows throughout the seasons.
O’Neill urges Celtic to sign South American star with agent “meeting” confirmed
He could be their first summer signing…
“I know Celtic historically doesn’t really have too many lows, they have a lot of highs, which is a great thing.
“But it’s inevitable that you have some tough spells and we were going through it, and now we’re bouncing back from that and here we are.”
Celtic considering move for Thomas Frank
Celtic are still undecided on their next permanent manager despite strong links to Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou, and are now considering a fellow Dane in the shape of former Tottenham boss Thomas Frank, Football FanCast sources understand.

The 52 year-old’s agent recently revealed he was taking a small break from management to holiday in Portugal with close friends, but it seems that break is already over as he was spotted in London for Brentford’s Premier League match against Fulham on Saturday.
The Hoops would need to secure European football to tempt Frank north of the border however, with a number of English top flight sides expected to be on the hunt for a new manager this summer.
O’Neill has suggested he has no intentions of staying in the role beyond the summer, but could still serve the club in an advisory or boardroom position.
