Celtic now in talks to sign 8-goal forward in deadline-busting deal

Celtic have now opened talks over a late window move to sign an impressive winger who has scored eight goals so far this season.

O’Neill “confident” Celtic will sign players

As if Celtic’s season hasn’t been frustrating enough on the pitch, they’ve also struggled in the January transfer window. The Bhoys entered this month desperately searching for reinforcements and could leave it having welcomed just two new names in Tomas Cvancara and Julian Araujo.

Martin O’Neill, however, is still “confident” that the Scottish giants will secure more fresh faces before Monday’s deadline arrives. He told reporters: “It’s January… after January, it’s all over. So there’s an anxiety.

Kyogo Furuhashi

Celtic expect imminent decision on £6m deal for Kyogo upgrade

Celtic are interested in signing a striker who would be a big upgrade on Kyogo Furuhashi.

“I don’t know whether, there’s an anger there, if you’re telling me that’s there, then I’ll take your word for it. But there would be an anxiety, a worry, that we get the players in.

“I’m confident, reasonably confident that we can do. It’s what we are trying to do. Whether we have anyone in before the weekend I don’t know, but we are making strenuous efforts. I think we can do something, the days are pressing but I’m hopeful. I’m reasonably confident we can do it.

“If we get through in the Europa League there are at least a couple of games, and you need a proper squad for that.

We’re trying to get as much quality as possible. Lots of names have been put forward – lots of people I’ve taken an interest in, one or two have been thwarted. But we’re working on it.”

kasper-hogh-bodo-gleam

When it comes to transfer targets, reports have claimed that Celtic are in the race to sign Kasper Hogh, but it is Norwich City who are in a more advanced position to welcome the Bodo/Glimt star.

That could see another target pass them by, taking O’Neill and co. back to square one and potentially heading towards an in-form Serie B winger.

Celtic open talks to sign Ghedjemis

According to Sky Sports, Celtic have now opened talks to sign Fares Ghedjemis from Serie B side Frosinone. The winger has enjoyed an impressive campaign in Italy’s second tier, scoring eight goals and assisting another two in 22 appearances, and could be the attacking solution that the Bhoys have been desperate for.

Celtic have been attempting to sign a winger all month long and will be desperate to get at least one name over the line. Whilst a deal to sign Ghedjemis would be investing in a player who is unproven in the top flight, his numbers in Serie B suggest that he’d be ready to step into the Scottish Premiership.

With talks open, the Scottish giants have until Monday to get their deal done and welcome another attacking talent for O’Neill.
