ClickHouse and Japan Cloud to drive real-time data and AI in Japan
ClickHouse, an open-source columnar database management system, has teamed up with Japan Cloud, a specialist firm helping worldwide SaaS and cloud companies enter and scale in the Japanese market, to establish ClickHouse K.K., a Japanese subsidiary. ClickHouse aims to boost growth in Japan, letting more businesses implement real-time data to enhance their performance and innovate.
The move comes as Japan is increasingly seen as a key market, one where AI and real-time data analytics are expected to grow significantly. The Japanese government is fuelling growth by making AI, advanced analytics, and improved data systems components of the country’s national economic strategy.
The country’s Digital Agency highlighted the crucial need for mass implementation of AI in Japan in 2025 through its “Priority Plan for the Advancement of a Digital Society.” The plan also urged for an expansion of computational resources and updates to the country’s data infrastructure, in a bid to “strengthen industrial competitiveness.”
What ClickHouse delivers
ClickHouse is a columnar database and analytics platform, providing enterprises with real-time data ingestion and queries. The platform supports many integrations with cloud and on-premise technologies, including event data, making information available for constant querying, rather than daily or hourly batch processing.
ClickHouse offers four main use cases, in real-time analytics, data warehousing, machine learning & GenAI, and observability.
ClickHouse supports interactive dashboards and applications, aggregating substantial amounts of data.
Data warehousing allows users to “slice and dice” data for analysis, and use it to build internal applications. Customers use the platform to develop a better understanding of user behaviour, business use, ad performance, and market dynamics.
ClickHouse supports vector search, plug and play GenAI models from any provider, and provides what it describes as “lightning-fast aggregations” that power model training “at petabyte scale.”
The platform monitors logs, events, traces, and other time-series data, and is used in the detection of fraud, infrastructure issue investigation, and similar anomalies, in real time. Essentially, ClickHouse enables almost instant insight at scale.
Real-time analytics ultimately helps speed up campaign insight, the company says. Optimisation lets users examine large volumes of data, so it’s possible to iterate online campaigns easily, like altering channel allocations and segments, while the campaigns are still running.
ClickHouse offers support for AI/ML-powered marketing, meaning data platforms can be fed with new data, particularly beneficial if marketing stacks rely on predictive modelling and generative content.
With the ability to query substantial datasets in real-time, it is possible to build and act on dynamic segments quickly and drive more relevant messaging when required. Instead of siloed systems, like web analytics and CRM, ClickHouse can be deployed to aggregate data, giving holistic insights.
Empowering Japan’s digital teams
For Japanese customers, ClickHouse K.K. represents an opportunity for faster access to real-time analytics and localised insight. Language, localisation, compliance, and integration with Japanese ad/martech ecosystems will benefit from the partnership.
Aaron Katz, CEO of ClickHouse, highlighted Japan as “one of the most dynamic and fast-growing markets for AI and data analytics.” Katz said the collaboration will “enable more Japanese enterprises to use real-time data to drive innovation and growth.”
The combination of ClickHouse’s analytics technology and Japan Cloud’s experience in helping international software companies establish and grow successfully in Japan should spark fresh opportunities for growth in many industries in the region.
