Liverpool set to enter club-to-club talks to sign their new Bobby Firmino
When naming some of the most iconic trios in history, many people would likely make an argument for the Three Musketeers or even the Three Wise Men.
However, many Liverpool supporters would argue that Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah are deserving of such a title, given their efforts on Merseyside.
Just like the Three Wise Men, the aforementioned talents were tasked with delivering the goods – something which they massively achieved during their respective periods at Anfield.
Their free-flowing and relentless attacking quality saw the Reds win six major honours during their time together – including the Premier League and Champions League.
In the present day, current boss Arne Slot is now looking for his own world-beating forward line to aid his attempts of bringing title glory back to Merseyside once again.

Liverpool to enter negotiations for £87m sensation
Despite splashing over £200m on the signings of Hugo Ekitiké and Alexander Isak last summer, Liverpool are once again on the hunt for added attacking reinforcements.
PSG star Bradley Barcola is just one of the players currently in the hierarchy’s sights, with the Frenchman now emerging as a key target when the window opens.
It’s been reported that he could be available for as little as £62m, after falling down Luis Enrique’s pecking order behind the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in recent months.
However, Barcola isn’t the only attacker being pursued ahead of the off-season, with RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande once again being touted with a move to Merseyside.
According to Football Insider, Slot’s men are set to open early negotiations with the Bundesliga outfit over a possible deal to land the 19-year-old winger this summer.
The report also states that the excellent relationship between the two clubs could lead to a potential deal – whilst also beating the likes of PSG for the teenager’s signature.
A fee in the region of €100m (£87m) is expected to be demanded by Leipzig this summer, but the Reds are hoping to reduce the fee by opening early talks for his services.
Why Diomande would be Liverpool’s next Firmino
Diomande would have high expectations to hit the ground running at Anfield, largely due to the levels produced by Firmino during his own time as a Liverpool player.
The Brazilian arrived from Hoffenheim for a fee in the region of £28m, with the attacker being an unknown quantity to many Reds’ supporters before his switch.
However, such a deal proved to be a phenomenal piece of business, as the number nine registered over 100 goals during his 362 appearances on Merseyside.
The 34-year-old’s efforts often went under the radar in comparison to Mane and Salah, but his clever movements and link-up play allowed the aforementioned duo to succeed at Anfield.
As a result, any attacker that joins the club, especially from the Bundesliga, will have high hopes of succeeding – something which Diomande may have to deal with next term.
Should any deal be completed, he would emulate Firmino in joining the Reds from Germany’s top-flight, but the Ivorian has also gained a reputation for himself given his numbers this term.
Despite the 2025/26 season being the teenager’s first in Europe’s top-five leagues, he’s taken to life like a duck to water – subsequently registering 13 goals and eight assists across all competitions.
His underlying stats also demonstrate the quality he possesses, potentially making him the perfect addition for Slot’s side during the upcoming transfer window.
Diomande, who’s been dubbed “generational” by journalist Bence Bocsak, has completed 4.4 successful dribbles per 90 this season – the most of any player in the Bundesliga.
To put his incredible ball-carrying ability into perspective, he’s still managed to complete 60% of his take-on attempts – despite attempting more than any player this term.
As a result, he’s been a constant threat within the final third in 2025/26, resulting in Diomande registering 7.2 touches in the opposition box per 90 and creating 2.2 chances per 90.
Like his dribbles, he’s ranked highly amongst others in the division, subsequently ranking higher than 95% of other players for both of the aforementioned areas.
Such attributes, coupled with his impressive goalscoring ability, could make him the perfect attacking addition for Slot’s men – albeit costing a small fortune.
At just 19, he has bags of time to improve further in the years ahead, which could easily see him become one of Europe’s most-threatening forward talents.
There’s no reason why he can’t have the same impact as Firmino at Anfield in 2026/27 and beyond, which could see the youngster enter cult status hero himself.
