Man Utd officials fly out to make checks on signing “powerful” £50m forward
Manchester United have burst into the race to sign an attacking Liverpool target after completing a recent scouting mission.
Carrick “has to” get Man Utd job, says Rooney
Man United are finally set to return to action next Monday. After the international break and FA Cup weekend, the Red Devils will have their sights set on returning to winning ways against rivals Leeds United and strengthening their top four chances in the process.
For interim boss Michael Carrick, it’s an opportunity to secure his eighth win in 11 games in charge this season in what would be an incredible achievement after Ruben Amorim’s disastrous tenure.
As INEOS continue their search for a long-term managerial option, it’s becoming tougher to look past Carrick by the week and Wayne Rooney now believes that he “has to” get the job.
The Man United legend said: “100% he should [get the job]. I have said this. I knew this was going to happen with Michael Carrick.
“I know him very well. I know his character, his personality. It needed a calm head, but someone who knows the place and the players needed some love, and he has given them that.
“We have seen the players play with more quality, more together as a team, and they look like a very strong team. For me, why would you change? He has got the best winning percentage of any Manchester United manager after that many games. For me, he has to get the job.”
If it is to be Carrick, then INEOS will certainly back him this summer, having just completed their scouting mission on an attacking star.
Man Utd complete Akliouche scouting mission
As reported by TeamTalk, Man United have now burst into the race to sign Maghnes Akliouche after INEOS completed their scouting mission on the AS Monaco winger last weekend.
The Frenchman’s side came out on top against Marseille, with officials from both Old Trafford and Liverpool watching on. As Man United aim to complete their attacking rebuild and Liverpool look to replace Mohamed Salah, it could turn into quite the race for Akliouche this summer.

It’s easy to see why Man United are interested. With potential Champions League football to contend with next season, added depth would certainly be appreciated by whoever it is in charge and Akliouche, who was previously valued at £50m, would undoubtedly add that.
The AS Monaco man, dubbed “powerful” by talent scout Jacek Kulighas almost matched Bryan Mbeumo stride for stride this season. As alternative options go, the 24-year-old would be perfect for Man United next season.
