Rangers could see cut-price bid accepted to sign the next Ryan Kent at Ibrox
When push has come to shove, Glasgow Rangers have frustratingly been found wanting, with a team that had lost just two Premiership games all season heading into the split having now lost twice in quick succession.
Overturning a seven-point deficit appears almost impossible with just three to play, ensuring the Ibrox side are heading for yet another trophy-less season.
The post-mortem will continue for a fair while yet, although Danny Rohl and co will likely be looking ahead to the summer and the potential improvements that can be made to make this a title-winning outfit again.
According to reports, that work may already be underway, with potential openings having presented themselves ahead of the looming start of the window.
Rangers could see cut-price bid accepted for Celtic target
When Rangers claimed their 55th title back in 2021, as many as four players reached double figures for Premiership goals, with that list including a certain Ryan Kent on ten for the season.

Therein lies the difference to the present day, with Youssef Chermiti the only player in Rohl’s ranks to have hit double figures (12), with the departing James Tavernier in second with eight goals from his right-back berth.
The Gers are the highest scoring team in the division, yet the quality and consistency of the attacking and midfield unit is still up for debate, with reports already linking the club to Motherwell talisman, Tawanda Maswanhise.
The Light Blues could also look further afield for another target too, with the Daily Record reporting that both Glasgow sides are interested in recent Derby County loanee, Bobby Clark.
As per the report, the Red Bull Salzburg-owned playmaker is expected to leave the Austrian side this summer, with a ‘cut-price sale’ seemingly on the cards.
Both Rangers and Celtic are said to have shown ‘initial interest’, with the Parkhead outfit having previously looked set to make a £6m move heading into the January window.
Why Clark could be another Kent in the making at Rangers
As noted above, Kent was one of the key components of Steven Gerrard’s beloved side five years ago, having initially arrived at Ibrox on loan in 2018, after rising up through Liverpool’s academy ranks.

Rangers’ most expensive signings of all time
The Gers now have new owners in the 49ers Enterprises.
A £7m permanent switch followed, with the young winger finding a settled home in Glasgow after a string of temporary moves away from the Merseysiders prior to that.
While a maverick talent at times, Kent’s Rangers record is hard to argue with, having registered 89 goals and assists in 218 games in all competitions, before departing on a free transfer in 2023.
The hope would be that Clark – still just 21 – could enjoy something of a repeat at Ibrox, having himself been on the books at Liverpool previously, after initially moving to Anfield from Newcastle United.
Hopes were high for him during that St James’ Park stay, with journalist Lee Ryder even making the comparison to a young Paul Gascoigne, an intriguing note considering Gazza’s brilliance in a Rangers shirt.
“You have always go to be very careful with comparisons but for me – and I don’t talk about this lightly – but at the same sort of age, you had a young Paul Gascoigne at Newcastle.
“…the reality is that sort of raw skill reminds me a little bit of Gazza at the same age.”
Like Kent, he never truly made the grade at Liverpool after racking up just six Premier League appearances before his £10m sale in 2024, having lasted only a season with Salzburg before returning to England on loan.
Such a switch has proven fruitful, however, with Clark having been a mainstay in a Derby side that narrowly missed out on the Championship playoffs, making 42 appearances, while scoring and assisting six times.
Tipped to re-join the Rams permanently, the Englishman was notably nominated for the division’s Young Player of the Year award, further recognition of his sky-high potential.
A former England youth international like Kent, the Epsom-born talent appears to be someone worth taking a gamble on, with those prior comparisons to Gascoigne certainly boding well for the impact he can make at Ibrox.
Indeed, Rohl’s side still appears to be crying out for a true number ten, someone who can unlock the door with a moment of magic – Clark might well be the solution.
