Spurs line up move to sign £60m English star
Tottenham Hotspur’s 2025/26 season felt like it would never end, but it did, and with Spurs’ Premier League status still intact.
It was only 12 months ago that the Lilywhites danced across London, celebrating their incredible Europa League triumph with Ange Postecoglou, who shortly after would be sacked by Daniel Levy.

Tottenham have now recorded back-to-back 17th-place finishes in the Premier League. Something needs to change, and ENIC are working toward sweeping changes that will last for years to come.
Spurs back in for top target
Tottenham have added Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi to the fold in the past week, signing both defenders on free transfers. However, this pragmatic start to the window must soon give way to more ambitious signings, with a view toward strengthening the attack.
Manchester City winger Savinho is at the centre of negotiations between north and south, with Spurs looking to bring him over after failing with a bid last summer.
Tottenham supporters will want to see a striker added to the ranks, but creative deficiencies have plagued the club for too long, and another former target could change that.
According to Sports BoomTottenham are prepared to dive back into the market for Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White this summer, one year after a £60m deal collapsed at the eleventh hour. At that stage, Gibbs-White had already agreed personal terms at Spurs, only for everything to fall apart when Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis offered him big money to stay at the City Ground.
Now, Spurs are joined by any number of Premier League rivals in the hunt for Gibbs-White’s signature, with Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Manchester United throwing a further spanner in the works with their own interest.
Gibbs-White is not part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad in spite of his standout season for the Tricky Trees. That does open the door for Spurs to swoop in.
Why Gibbs-White can be better than Savinho for Spurs
With the official summer market almost upon us, it’s clear that Tottenham need to affect changes in creative areas. Gibbs-White could be the perfect addition in that regard, not only instilling more enterprise in possession, but adding a combative edge to De Zerbi’s midfield.
Like Savinho, Gibbs-White has been snubbed by his international set-up ahead of the World Cup, but there’s no question that the Forest star has the stronger case.
Coming off the back of an exceptional season on an individual level, Gibbs-White has showed two sides of his game over the past two years, elegant and silky in a high-flying Forest system in 2024/25 before adopting a more resilient, talismanic stance this year, helping his side fight off relegation.

Whether Tottenham succeed in their efforts to sign Gibbs-White remains to be seen, but there’s no question that he could pack a considerable punch; eclipsing the impact of Savinho, for example.
The Brazilian, 22, is unquestionably talented, fast and furious down the wing, but he only started seven times in the Premier League for Pep Guardiola last season, and even when he played regularly the year before, scored only one goal.
It should go without saying that Spurs are not in a position to make tentative forward steps over the next several years. Supporters expect to see big changes at the start of the 2026/27 campaign.
Gibbs-White has shown in the past that he is willing to leave the City Ground and sign for Spurs. Granted, Tottenham could offer Champions League football one year ago, but they may still tempt him to establish himself at the heart of De Zerbi’s exciting project this time around, albeit with plenty of competition to fight off.
