West Brom considering swoop for Will Still as replacement for Eric Ramsay
West Bromwich Albion are now considering a swoop for a “hugely promising” young manager, with Eric Ramsay on thin ice after a very poor start.
Ramsay under “huge” pressure amid winless run
Having struggled under the helm of inexperienced manager Ryan Mason, Ramsay was brought in to turn West Brom’s season around, but he has been unable to make an impact, and the 34-year-old is still searching for his first win.

Most recently, the Baggies came up short in a 2-0 defeat at home against Coventry City, after which the manager bemoaned his lack of quality options in forward areas, saying: “It’s undeniable that we are lacking a spark, real quality and regular opportunities of real note in front of goal. You couldn’t look at our games so far and not arrive at that conclusion. It’s something we have to push and fix quickly.”
However, with the January transfer window behind us, the Shrewsbury-born manager will have to start getting a tune out of his current crop of players quickly, as the Albion are just one point above the Championship relegation zone.
According to journalist Lewis Cox, the boss is under “huge” pressure going into crunch clashes against Charlton and Oxford.
“Huge pressure on Eric Ramsay now, winless in eight as WBA have crashed into the bottom three. Rivals winning elsewhere under new management. Horror show goes on.”
And according to a report from Sports Boom, Ramsay is indeed on thin ice, and West Brom are considering a swoop for Will Stillwho is currently without a club, having been sacked by Southampton earlier this season.
Still lost his job in November, but he is eager to get back into management as soon as possible, and the Baggies could appoint him as an interim boss, should they decide to pull the trigger on Ramsay.
The ex-Saints manager is not the only option on the shortlist, however, with Ralph Hassenhuttl also under consideration, alongside Sean Dyche, although there is a chance the 54-year-old may return to Burnley instead.
Still would be risky appointment for West Brom
West Brom took a gamble which so far hasn’t paid off by bringing in Ramsay, given that he had no experience in English football, and Still performed badly in his only Championship job to date, despite receiving high praise from journalist Henry Winter after landing the role.
The Belgium-born manager, who prefers to implement a 3-4-1-2 system, won just two of 13 Championship matches with Southampton, and at 33-years-old, he is even younger than the Baggies’ current manager.
The ex-Reims boss did have some success in France, famously going on a 19-match unbeaten run with the Ligue 1 side during the 2022-23 campaign, but he has no experience in relegation battles.
As such, Dyche, who guided Everton to safety in the 2022-23 campaign, could be a safer appointment for West Brom, but he is not the only option on the shortlist, as appointing an interim manager is also a possibility…
