Bally’s lands Rhode Island’s second online sports betting licence

Rhode Island has granted Bally’s its second online sports betting license defeating top running Rush Street Interactive and its BetRivers brand during a competitive bidding process with the state.

The Rhode Island Lottery chose Bally’s to operate as the second online sports betting licensee in addition to Sportsbook Rhode Island, which has been run out of International Game Technology for almost four full years.

Bally’s expects to launch its new online sportsbook product in November 2021, when its IGT’s exclusive online sports betting relationship with the Lottery expires. While final contracts are currently pending, Bally’s anticipates securing at least a five-year term agreement as well as potential extension options.

Bally’s currently has two casinos located in Rhode Island with retail sportsbooks at both locations, and plans to deliver a ‘world-class’ online product by focusing on innovation, modularity, and long-term market growth.

This latest win in Rhode Island is part of Bally’s commitment to increasing its overall presence across both land-based and online gaming and sports betting industries.
