DigiPlus Secures South African Gaming Licenses, Marking Major Expansion Push

DigiPlus Interactive Corp., a Philippines-listed online gaming operator, has obtained key online gaming licenses from South Africa’s Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, clearing the way for its entry into what the company considers Africa’s largest online gaming market.

In a filing to the Philippine Stock Exchange, DigiPlus said South Africa’s gaming sector generated around $4.9 billion in revenue in 2025. The approval follows its license application submitted in late September and positions the company to begin operations in the country.

The Western Cape regulator granted DigiPlus three authorizations: a national manufacturer license, a bookmaker license, and a bookmaker premises license. The board oversees gambling activity in the Western Cape province, with Cape Town as its hub.

DigiPlus has pointed out that the Western Cape has among the most developed digital infrastructure and has established a clear regulatory framework, making this region the preferred point of entry to operators in the country as it contributes approximately 31% of all online gaming revenue in South Africa’s online gambling market.

With approvals received, the company is now ready to enter a high-growth market (South Africa) as its second international expansion following Brazil.

As per its current operations within its home market of the Philippines, DigiPlus operates various platforms such as BingoPlus, which is the first locally licensed and government approved online bingo platform in the country, ArenaPlus which operates as a sports betting product and GameZone which is a casual gaming product. Additionally, DigiPlus has nationwide operations for casino slot machines and arcade operations, which form the basis of its domestic business model.

DigiPlus has reported 4Q net income of PHP2.5 billion (approximately $41.9 million), a decrease of 36% from the prior year period; its revenue for the same period was reported at PHP17.3 billion, down 27% year-on-year. In light of these declines, DigiPlus has declared a dividend of $64 million for its fiscal year ending December 31, 2025.

In addition to expanding into these new markets, DigiPlus is pursuing a $204.1 million acquisition of convertible notes from Hong Kong-listed International Entertainment Corp; this transaction would provide DigiPlus with control over the New Coast Hotel Manila that is being redeveloped into an integrated resort.
