Polymarket announces iOS launch in the US market

Polymarket has launched access to the US exchange on iOS, which represents a big milestone for them since they went through a more than 6-month waitlist period for access to the American market exchange after previously having only had invitation-only access to use the app as a US user.

With the launch of this iOS app, US Apple users will finally have access to join trading markets using the app after being previously on a waitlist. The Android version of this app has yet to be announced.

Polymarket’s acquisition of QCEX (a CFTC licensed exchange) in July 2025 has allowed Polymarket to operate in the U.S. market under an existing regulatory framework.

Polymarket was banned from US operations following the resolution of a settlement with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in 2022 regarding the offering of unregistered derivatives, which resulted in a $1.4 million fine.

A big part of Polymarket’s return to the US market came when it acquired futures commission merchant status, allowing it to offer event contracts in the US. However, the timeline for returning to the American market has taken longer than initially anticipated.

Polymarket has found ways to remain active, as it has continued to receive strong volume of trades from users through international users who have used VPNs to access the site while Polymarket has remained open for business by offering trades to users through their international accounts for many of the recent major sporting events including March Madness and The Masters.

According to industry data, there continues to be increasing growth in prediction markets throughout the US, as already millions of users are participating in event-based prediction betting, as well as traditional sports betting.
